What Is Sag_organic in Shopify Google Analytics 4?

Sag_organic is a parameter in Shopify Google Analytics 4 (GA4) that is used to identify organic search traffic sources. The parameter is added to the URL of the landing page a user visits after clicking on a search engine result, such as Google.

Sag_organic stands for “search engine, aggregator, organic,” where “aggregator” refers to third-party search engines or directories that provide organic search results. When a user clicks on an organic search result, the sag_organic parameter is added to the URL, allowing GA4 to track and report on the traffic source as organic search.

In Shopify, sag_organic is automatically added to the URL of the landing page for traffic coming from organic search sources. It’s important to note that sag_organic is specific to GA4 and is not used in Universal Analytics (UA). In UA, organic search traffic is identified by the “utm_source=organic” parameter.

Overall, sag_organic is an important parameter in Shopify GA4 that helps you to track and analyze the performance of your organic search traffic sources.
